Potential yes, black-and-white no. Value creation through Digital Engineering was the subject on the last event of the Swiss Society of Systems Engineers (SSSE) organised workshop series, which is launched to promote the use of Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) in the Systems Engineering community.

Participants first reiterated the principles of MBSE, and received an overview on Digital Engineering (DE) tools and promoted work models.

Then, in small groups they discussed what the trendy buzzwords around Digital Engineering and Digitalisation in general mean to them and how they see these supporting MBSE principles. At the end each group reported out on their conversation.

In conclusion, the potential of DE tools for the practise in significant. Value creation models differ though from tool to tool and in each organisational setting. Much depends on the organisational maturity, cross-domain collaboration and levels of standardisation.  Digitalisation responsible need to be aware of those specifics and include them in future operating models accordingly to assure benefit in the practise.

“We have gladly responded to the request to co-create the event. Voice of the Practice and the demystification of Digitalisation are critical building bricks of successful digitalisation initiatives. The energy in the room was amazing - there is definitively potential in involving the practice in the Digital Engineering initiatives.” adds Domonkos Gaspar, Managing Partner at Collins Consulting.

The event was concluded with an Apero for informal exchange and networking.
